Castello di Monticello d’Alba

Set amidst the Langhe and Roero regions, where the renowned Barolo finds its origin and truffles are celebrated, lies a UNESCO recognized gem – the Monticello Castle. As you journey through winding paths and ascend steep hills adorned with hazelnut groves and vineyards, the castle’s majestic silhouette emerges against the azure horizon.
Unrivaled in its significance and exceptional preservation, the castle’s legacy has remained undisturbed since 1372, consistently owned by the Counts Roero di Monticello. To this day, it serves as their cherished residence. Stepping into the grand hall, one is greeted by the present custodians, Aimone and Elisa Roero di Monticello. With genuine hospitality, they personally guide visitors through the castle’s resplendent chambers and share stories of cherished family heirlooms. The journey continues outdoors, with a leisurely walk amid grounds rich with oak trees and truffle-favoring terrains. Enveloping the castle, a meticulously designed park stretches beyond the ancient moat.
Conceived in 1827 by Xavier Kurten, the esteemed garden architect serving the House of Savoy, this park embodies the quintessential English garden aesthetics, mirroring the trends of its time.
